Shri Jitin Prasada

Shri Jitin Prasada, serving as the Pro Chancellor of NIELIT Deemed to be University, brings over two decades of governance experience to steer the institution toward a transformative future. As a Member of the Lok Sabha from Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, and with prior representation of Shahjahanpur and Dhaurahra, he has a deep understanding of public service and policy-making.

NIELIT Deemed to be University, established in 2024 under the UGC (Institution Deemed to be Universities) Regulations, 2023, is the only university under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. With its main campus in Ropar, Punjab, and 11 constituent centres across India, the university is committed to fostering excellence in IT, electronics, and related fields. Under Shri Prasada’s leadership, NIELIT aims to empower students and professionals through cutting-edge programs in areas such as cyber security, cloud computing, and e-Governance.

An alumnus of Doon School, Shri Prasada holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi, and an MBA from the International Management Institute, Delhi. His extensive experience as Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Road Transport & Highways, Petroleum & Natural Gas, and Steel, along with his tenure as Cabinet Minister for the Public Works Department in Uttar Pradesh, equips him to guide NIELIT in creating market-driven courses that align with industry needs.

Shri Prasada is a firm believer in the power of technology to drive long-term social change. His vision for NIELIT focuses on leveraging digital platforms to enhance accessibility, providing end-to-end solutions from online registration to digital certifications, and fostering inclusive education to support India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation by 2047.
