Overview

National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), (erstwhile DOEACC Society), an Autonomous Scientific Society under the administrative control of Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MoE&IT), Government of India, was set up to carry out Human Resource Development and related activities in the area of Information, Electronics & Communications Technology (IECT). NIELIT is engaged both in Formal & Non-Formal Education in the area of IECT besides development of industry oriented quality education and training programmes in the state-of-the-art areas. NIELIT has endeavoured to establish standards to be the country’s premier institution for Examination and Certification in the field of IECT. It is also one of the National Examination Body, which accredits institutes/organizations for conducting courses in IT in the non-formal sector.

The vision of the government to make India a USD 30-trillion developed economy by 2047 requires channelization of the demographic dividend and turning job-seekers into job-providers. Talent available is the biggest promise that can realized by utilizing the opportunities around the range of emerging technologies. MeitY's approach aims to bring this about by building Digital Public Infrastructure rooted in inclusivity, accessibility, innovation and bridging of the Digital divide.

It gives me immense pleasure to share with you news of the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), being granted "Deemed to be University" status by the Department of Education, Government of India. With this, it has become the first and only organization under MeitY to have Deemed to be University Status. This milestone is a testament to NIELIT's unwavering commitment to excellence in the field of Information Technology and its dedication to providing world-class education and training. It also underscores the alignment of NIELIT's objectives with the overarching goals of the MeitY aimed at fostering innovation and excellence in the field of IT education and research, Digital India and Make in India.

As we embark on this new chapter, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, industry partners, and the government, for their unwavering support and collaboration. Together, let us continue to strive for academic excellence, research innovation, and societal impact, contributing to the vision of a digitally empowered and prosperous India.

Message from Executive Director

NIELIT Ropar, with its rich legacy and pioneering contributions in Information Technology, has come a long way as the main campus of NIELIT Deemed to be University with its 11 constituent units at Aizawl, Agartala, Aurangabad, Calicut, Gorakhpur, Imphal, Itanagar, Kekri, Kohima, Patna, and Srinagar.

With greater autonomy and flexibility in designing and implementing innovative programs and the above vision of the future, NIELIT Ropar is offering five M.Tech programs namely in IoT and Sensor Systems, Automotive Electronics, Cyber Forensics and Information Security, Data Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence respectively, and one B.Tech program in CSE with specialization in AI/ML in its inaugural academic session. In coming sessions, more programs are envisaged to be added in areas like Blockchain, Cloud & Edge Computing, and Robotics Process Automation, Quantum Computing among others.

NIELIT is committed to contributing to the growth of this nation by collaborating with leading academic institutions and industry partners, fostering a dynamic ecosystem of learning, research, and enhanced employability prospects of its graduates in the competitive job market.
